As VP and General Manager of eBay Classifieds North America & APAC, Larry is responsible for the existing Classifieds assets in the U.S.,Canada and Asia including Kijiji Canada and Taiwan, Gumtree Australia, eBay Classifieds and Rent.com, as well as expansion, Mergers & Acquisitions, and partnerships within the eBay Classifieds Group. Larry is active in all aspects of M&A transactions, including target identification and strategy formulation to deal execution and operations of the acquired business.
In his previous role as GM of Scandinavia, Larry led the acquisition of a portfolio of $400M of classifieds assets in Scandinavia, then becoming the General Manager of the businesses for three years. The portfolio included the leading horizontal classifieds site in Denmark: dba.dk, the leading motors vertical website: BilBasen, a pan-European car dealer inventory management system: Bilinfo, and the second most read newspaper in Denmark, Den Bla Avis. The successful acquisition and business model transformation resulted in a significant improvement in market position for dba.dk (+12 share points) and acceleration of the revenue growth rate for the portfolio (+10%). These results were driven, in large part, by a collaborative spirit and shared strategic vision throughout the deal process and post-acquisition business operations.
Prior to his role as General Manager for Scandinavia, Larry was based in Amsterdam and managed a global portfolio (20+ countries) of horizontal classifieds assets with close to 60M monthly unique visitors. Operating metrics and revenues more than doubled in size in 12 months and the portfolio achieved profitability for the first time in its 5-year history with eBay.
In his first role at eBay, Larry worked on the Strategy and Ventures team as a strategy advisor to the President of eBay and senior executives managing eBay's e-commerce properties around the world. He led a team tasked with defining and leading the on-going development of eBay’s long-term vision and cohesive strategy across geographies, brands and functions.
Earlier in his career, Larry was a strategy consultant and worked for the Federal Reserve Board, where he performed research and analyses for economists responsible for the projection of the money supply and the implementation of U.S. monetary policy.
Larry is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA.
